Questions about Windows 10 End of Support

Yes, Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 in October of this year. I’m happy to help people talk through options if their current computer is not eligible for automated upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

In short, there’s five options:

• Buy a brand new computer with Windows 11

• Buy a refurbished computer with Windows 11

• Manually upgrade your current unsupported computer to Windows 11

  • Which is not officially supported by Microsoft, but can often be done

• Buy a refurbished computer with Linux (an alternative to Windows)

• Have Linux installed on your current computer, replacing Windows

Okay, there’s more options than that, but those will be the five most common options. And that simplifies it. They may be reasons why you would want to more strongly consider one of those options over another, depending on your situation.

People from outside the La Crosse area are eligible to win. If you have a United States mailing address, I can ship the computer to you. If you are in the general La Crosse, Vernon or Crawford counties in Wisconsin, I can schedule to deliver the computer right to you.
